You find the words for everyone else.
So who helps you find yours? Coaching, mentoring and consulting for communications people, from someone who's been doing the job for more than twenty years and is still doing it now. Agency and client side, pitches won and lost, teams built, and the particular craft of internal comms. Space to think about your work, your career and what you want next, with someone who knows the terrain.

You sit between leadership and everyone else, translating decisions you didn't make, on timelines you didn't set, for audiences that every stakeholder claims to understand better than you do. Agency side, it's the pitch cycle, the pace, and proving your value in someone else's numbers. Client side, you're often the last to be briefed and the first to be asked why it didn't land. And internal comms, which is where my heart is, gets it most of all: asked to make the message stick after the decision was made in a room you weren't in.
If any of that sounds familiar, we should talk. And if you're agency side, you've got a page of your own: Agency.
Twenty-plus years in the same chair as you.
I've done the job from most of its angles: agency and client side, sales, creative, account management, leadership, and internal comms, which became my sweet spot and stayed my passion. I've pitched, presented, been restructured, restructured others, and written more messaging documents than I care to count.
That matters because you shouldn't have to spend half of every session explaining how comms actually works. We can start from the real conversation, which is about you.
Coaching, mentoring or consulting. You choose the mix.
Most sessions blend all three, but it helps to know the difference.
Coaching
The core of it. Your thinking, your career, your calls. I ask the questions, you find the answers, and they're better answers because they're yours.
Mentoring
When you want my experience rather than just my questions. What I'd watch for in a restructure, how I'd handle that stakeholder, what I wish I'd known at your stage. Offered when asked, never imposed.
Consulting
Sometimes you just need another comms brain on the actual problem: the narrative that won't come together, the engagement survey nobody believes, the campaign that needs a second pair of eyes. I'll roll my sleeves up.
No frameworks, no forms. Just a conversation.
We start by getting to know each other. From there we agree an overarching goal, then keep each session anchored in whatever feels most pressing on the day. What's live right now almost always feeds the bigger picture, and my job is to help you see how.
- Sessions are typically 45 minutes, though the conversation decides, so they flex anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour.
- We meet online over Google Meet, wherever you are in the world, or in person. I'm based in Guildford and Central London.
- Daytime and evening sessions both work, because comms deadlines have never respected a diary.
- I take very few notes, because this is about listening, not paperwork.
- We agree a simple coaching agreement upfront, so we both know where we stand.
- I'm trained with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), working towards my accreditation, and I follow the ICF Code of Ethics throughout.
While I complete my ICF accreditation hours, sessions are £45. You get committed, properly trained coaching at a rate that reflects where I am on that journey. It won't stay at this level, but if you start with me now, we'll agree your rate together before anything changes.
Your first conversation is free. A full hour, online or in person, to see whether we're a fit. No pitch and no pressure.

Part thinking space, part sounding board from someone who's done the job: confidential sessions on your work, your career and what you want next, with mentoring and hands-on consulting available whenever you want them.
I'm in internal comms. Is this really for me?
Especially you. Internal comms is where I spent my happiest years and it's the discipline I care most about. You'll be talking to someone who thinks it's the most important job in the building.
Coaching, mentoring, consulting: which do I need?
You don't have to decide. We'll start with what's live for you, and the right mode usually announces itself. Most people move between all three without noticing.
Can my employer pay for this?
Yes, I can invoice your employer directly, and coaching often fits within a learning and development budget. Worth asking; plenty of managers say yes.
How much does it cost?
£45 a session at my founding client rate while I complete my ICF accreditation hours. Your first session is a free one-hour introduction, online or in person.
What if I'm thinking about leaving comms altogether?
Then that's what we talk about. Coaching doesn't have an agenda to keep you anywhere. It's about working out what you actually want, then getting deliberate about it.
Where are you based, and do you coach online?
Guildford and Central London in person, online worldwide over Google Meet.
Do you offer evening sessions?
Yes. Daytime and evening both work, online or in person, because comms deadlines have never respected a diary.
What happens in the free introduction?
An hour, online or in person. You talk, I listen, and we see if it clicks. If it doesn't, no hard feelings. I'll point you somewhere useful if I can.
Ready to be the one talking?
One free hour, no pitch and no pressure, to find out whether this is what you've been looking for.
